A good chunk of my day was spent in a private car park quietly tucked away in the middle of the city. The clouds veiled any harsh heat, without letting any drops of rain that could have ruined any shot. After months of first learning the steps to the chorus of Lovesick Girls by Blackpink, my friends and I finally had the chance to film it. It was so long overdue that we were so glad to finally see it on video.
Okay. I wasn’t the best in the group. In fact, I missed a whole lot of steps and my limbs were all over the place. It’s what happens when the last time I danced was 2011 (perhaps, earlier even). I tried my best to keep up, look good doing it and not miss a bit. But typical me, I was always a beat late.
Nonetheless, it was great getting my feet in tune with my arms to the beat of the rhythm again. I didn’t realize how much I loved dancing until I have not done it in a long time. Allowing your body to fly around while listening to music is just freeing. I was less tired and stressed. Although I felt such a beginner once again, I was not made ashamed of it. Nobody laughed. Nobody was frustrated. In fact, I was encouraged and complimented for doing it at all… In heels. I wanted to be better, but it’s all I got. For now.
The good news is, there’s more to come. And while we haven’t caught much attention from viewers yet, I can make mistakes. And there’s is nothing wrong with that at all.
